Capsule for the Day

"The road to victory is often marked with disapproval, graveyard silence and loneliness", said an old man. But his grandson wanted to know why. "Pop, one would have expected admiration, praise and red carpets rolled out as one journeys to victory". "Don't be deceived son, it is a lonely ride".

The narrative of the passion of Christ confirms the old man's wisdom. When it came to His ride to victory, Christ was alone even though He had a huge following. He was greeted with a loud cry of disapproval from the crowd. It appeared no one understood His mission, His purpose.

We can deduce two things from every disapproval. First, it is a reaction to what we don't know nor understand about a particular mission. Second, it is the heat needed to cause the mission to come alive. So, in a sense, disapproval, loneliness, are necessary for us to realise our purpose in life.
