Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

I ran into a friend who hurt me badly in the past. My first reaction when I sighted him was to ignore him or to simply remind him of all he had done. But I paused and prayed for awhile. I asked God to help me be the best version of myself (love - becoming the best for others). And He did help.

Where did the inspiration of becoming the best for my friend come from? It came from God's action. He knows how badly I have hurt Him with my sins. Yet, He still loves me. He is always at His best whenever He encounters me. He doesn't remind me of what I have done, but who I am.

This experience reminds me of falling in love with God. When I love God, I come to know Him and the effect of knowing Him is I begin to act like He acts. For one can't love God and act contrary to the Way at the same time. God's love demands letting go our ways and embracing His Way - love.
