Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

There are three main ways of honouring God. The first is to remember what He has done. The Israelites were very good at this. To remember simply means to "re-member", that is to become part of God's saving action again. Each time we remember we honour God and He honours us.

The second is to do what the Lord commands. The first commandment is to love God with all our heart, all our soul and all our mind. To love is to become the best of ourselves. The self is good. Thus, to love is to become who we are for God, neighbour and self. This honours God and us.

The third is to be in the presence of God. We can't claim to honour and not be in His presence at the same time. To honour Him means to be in His presence, to bring ourselves, our real selves to Him. It's bringing our time, treasure and talent, to Him who deserves our honour, who honours us.
