Capsule for the Day

It is not uncommon to ask the question does God really love me. While it is a sincere question to ask, it is also a question that raises another question, "do I really love God". To love God means to keep His Word. And He has spoken only One Word, the Word we joyfully await in silence.

To keep His Word demands we encounter Him, we know Him, we let Him challenge us and call us out of  our comfort zone, lead us through the desert, the drought, the arid land. To keep His Word means we trust Him even when there isn't "a reason". For trust has credit where reason fails.

Those who can't trust, they can't really wait and they really can't love. Waiting, trusting and loving are three ways we keep His Word. Advent calls us to cultivate the virtue of patience, to trust and to love. In practising these virtues, we make ourselves ready for the Word we joyfully await.
