Capsule for the Day

Waiting is an art. It isn't something that comes naturally to many of us. There is no gainsaying waiting is a strange word and it could be seen as a weird attitude especially in our contemporary society of growing distrust or unbelief. Why wait when you can have  instant gratification?

But the question isn't just about why wait. It is also about "who do we wait on?" If we are waiting on ourselves, we could easily give up and choose the path of instant gratification. For why should I wait if I hope in myself? There's got to be someone bigger than me, someone I can trust, wait on.

There is only One Person we can truly wait on - God. He is the Father who keeps His promise. He promised us a saviour and He gave us One, His Son. At Advent, we learn the art of waiting. We "journey" with the Lord through "the desert" waiting on Him to come again, as He did 2000 years ago.
