Capsule for the Day
Advent is about waiting, staying awake, joyful preparation, repentance, entering and living in the mystery. It is about redemption. It is about the Real God coming to the real man, in the real world. These are some of the many themes of Advent. These themes reflect our personal stories.
Let's take the theme of waiting for instance, we begin the day in silence, waiting for the Word that gets us out of bed, sanctifies the day and "graces" it. At the end of the day, we are silent again, waiting for the Word that bids us, come all you who have laboured... and find rest for your soul.
There is that silence that enables us to wait, to hunger for and to open up to the Word. The Word comes, He comes to give us joy that defines our preparation and makes us stay awake while waiting. It is important that we stay awake, but it is also important that we repent, turn to God.
