Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

It is not uncommon for many of us to get into the habit of fighting. Sometimes, we engage in a physical fight. Other times it could be verbal or even mental fights. Somehow, there seems to be an enemy or a problem we fight with or better we try to destroy. It is always he or she that is the problem.

We just can't wait to fix the problem or in worse case scenarios destroy it. This isn't something new. From the very beginning, humanity had been a victim of a fight or had been in the very act of fighting. Why would the devil tempt Eve to sin? Simple, He was picking a fight with God.

But God didn't create us to fight. He created us to know Him, love Him and be happy with Him. He exhorts us repeatedly "do not be afraid ... the battle is Mine". He didn't say the battle is yours. "I will do the fighting", He said. "All you need to do is be still and see what I will do for you today".
