Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

We live in a world that is constantly asserting its autonomy of God. There is no need for God; there is no need for man to be guided by His rules nor commands. Man has come of age. The crime Christians and people of other religions commit is to call man back to the tutelage of God, Father.

How ever we make this call, be it by one's way of life, action or word, we, the men, the women who believe in God will be confronted by the fierce hostility of the autonomous man. The temptation in this situation is to conform. But giving in to the temptation doesn't take away the hostility.

The reason is simple. The hostility of the man who seeks autonomy without God cannot be healed by our conformity. It can only be healed when he returns to his Creator. For it is in the Will of his Creator that he finds peace, the peace that the world cannot give; the Peace that frees him.
