Capsule for the Day
Christians don't live in the past. They remember the past. They learn from the past. But they don't let the past define them. For they see more than their past. They see the present and they live in the present with an eye for the future. And this is how Jesus lived. He was the Man of the present.
In the Scriptures, He is always in touch with the moment: the emotions, the politics, the needs and situations of others and many more. He observed the present and He allowed Himself to be present. And because He lived in the present, He was able to see more, hear more and do more.
But it wasn't all about the present. There was the future. He looked forward. According to Hebrews 12:2b "For the sake of the joy that lay before Him He endured the cross, despising its shame, and has taken His seat at the right of the throne of God". So, what lies in the future defines the present.
