Capsule for the Day

When life throws stuff at us, or when we do or say something we aren't sure of, we tend to conclude it is the will of God. Unfortunately, it isn't everything that is the will of God. Many things are actually the will of man. But it is difficult to discern what is man's will and what is God's will.

Discerning the will of God is one of the hardest things to do. And not many of us are equipped with the skill to discern His will. But there is no harm learning and developing the skill. The best way to start skilling ourselves in the art of discernment is to be close to God and to Know Him.

St. James said "when you draw close to God, He draws close to you". This sounds as if He wasn't close before. But that isn't true. He is always "God with us". What James means is we know Him better when we are close to Him. And to Know God is to know His will... His will isn't always ours.
