Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

It is interesting how two enemies can become friends so easily when they both have a common enemy. We find this in Matthew 22:15-21. Imagine the deep seated hatred and malice that would have made a Pharisee have a conversation with a Herodian. It's obvious, they want Christ dead.

Does this sound familiar? Not many of us will easily connect with the reality of people plotting to destroy others. But the truth is, there are people with deep seated malice who plot our downfall. They don't come with scary faces, they come with the innocent and friendly faces of the Pharisees.

It is difficult to detect who they are and it is a waste of time to worry about who they might be. What matters is to be with Christ. He is the wisdom of the Father. His wisdom defeated the plotting of the Pharisees. With His wisdom, we can defeat those against us. But we have to give God His due.
