Capsule for the Day

Aldous Huxley is spot on when he said "we are good at ending but not at mending". More and more we prove him right. We seem not to have the patience to mend our lives or that of others. As soon as there is a problem or we even perceive a failure, we tend to end life or we throw it away.

Pope Francis is right. "We live in a throw away society". We throw away our friends, our spouses and even our children or parents. We don't seem to understand sacrifice nor are we able to cope with failure. There seems to be no room for second best. It just has to be the best, flawless, perfect.

Unfortunately, we aren't perfect as in flawless. For our flaws and imperfections are part of our make-up. However, we aren't the sum of our flaws and imperfections. We are God's children, created in His Image and Likeness and capable of revealing His Perfection in our imperfections.
