Capsule for the Day

At every stage of our lives, God demands something of us. Many a time, He demands our very self. He demands a new self for a new phase of life. This new self, sometimes, has to undergo the crucible of humiliation. The self has to disconnect in order to connect.

It isn't fun going through the crucible of humiliation. It hurts. But it is necessary. It is a growth process that could bring out the best in us. Depending on how we take it, the process could leave us better or bitter. From experience, praying through the process is the best way to be better.

I learned this from Christ Jesus. He prayed all through His life. Like we read yesterday, He prayed in silent tears and aloud with songs of joy. Prayer wasn't just a coping mechanism it was His life. He prayed because in prayer, He transcends His present to the Father, the source of all help.
