Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

12 September 2017

At the end of the day, people will just be people. No matter what you do, however you say it or think it, those who will love you, will love you and those who will not love, will not. We can try our best, but we can't change the behavior pattern of another. He or she will make up his or her own mind.

It is the complexity of human existence. We can have the loftiest of ideals, but it is people that make them real or kill them. We see this in parenting. Parents will sincerely bring up their children in the best possible way, and a child will turn out to be anyone but his or her parents' dream.

While this is heartbreaking, it is wise to realise we have no control over another's behavior. We can only do our best, and like the saying goes, leave the rest for God. Nevertheless, with hope, we can transcend the actions of another to what God can do and is doing... the medicine for life.
