Capsule for the Day
Who wouldn't panic at the sound of bad news. Who wouldn't want to stop another from suffering? No one! Not even Peter in the Gospel reading. In a way, Peter did what each and every one of us would have done - to remonstrate with Christ; to prevent Him from suffering. He meant well.
But Peter was limited in his thinking. He could only see and perceive what was immediate. He couldn't see more, see possibility and in the language of the Gospel; he couldn't see that Christ will rise again. All he saw was suffering, pain and death. Christ rebuked him... "you see like man".
In order words, you don't see the whole mystery... Peter, you are trying to do what Satan did, to resolve the mystery instead of living in the mystery and letting the mystery be the mystery. You are becoming who you are not. Get behind Me and let Me lead you in the Way of the mystery.
