Capsule for the Day

As Christians, we are constantly on the battle ground. The battle isn't physical. It is a battle in the mind and in the heart; the battle between good and evil. The evil one, the father of lies, is always laying secret snares to gun us down. One of his deadliest weapons is discouragement.

He is very skillful at his art. He tempts us to be always busy without finding time for rest and enjoying the work of our hands. Then, we burn out and become discouraged. He deceives us into thinking our effort is fruitless. We become discouraged and give up. Worse, he magnifies our fears.

It is pretty hard to overcome the weapon of discouragement. Somehow, we all fall for it. But we can overcome. We can resist discouragement and live encouraged. The secret is to remember who is fighting the battle. Hasn't God, said, the battle is mine... stand still? See what I will do for you?
