Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

We could go through life dwelling only on our weaknesses. We could actually draw the conclusion we are the sum of our sins and failures. We could see nothing except our past, the negatives. Worse, people may even make us to believe we are truly the sum of our weaknesses.

You failed last year, what makes you feel you wouldn't fail this year? You kept forgetting to do X why on earth should I trust you with Y? "You are a failure". We hear this in our heads and it hits us hard when we try and try and we seem to be making no progress. And we just give up trying.

But the solution isn't in giving up. It is in looking beyond our failures to God's greatness. It is in looking beyond what we have done to what God can do in us and with us. Things begin to happen when we transcend our little world of "I am a failure" to God's word in Philippians 4:13.
