Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

We live in a very noisy world. Noise pollution is becoming a social menace. Silence and its beauty is fast fading away. It is also an era of so much internal noise. We often worry... we aren't listening. How can we listen when we are afraid of silence? How can we ponder mysteries?

We are bereaved of the depths of reality, the mysteries that leave us in awe. We are carried away by the superficial. It doesn't make sense to be quiet when everything around us is shouting. We jump on the bandwagon. We make the loudest noise... and yet we want to resolve mysteries.

But with so much noise and no time to be still, we end up becoming more of a mystery to ourselves. We need to rediscover the treasure of silence. We need to heed the word of our Creator "be still and know that I am God". We need to retreat and listen to the inner voice of Love. We need to be silent.
