Capsule for the Day
We live in a world that seems to be obsessed with the body. The trend today is to slim-fit, to lose weight and to look elegant. It appears there is a perfect body shape or looks out there that we must fit into. The push is to lose weight and lose it now. So, we do all we can to burn calories.
Some of us are on very expensive diets that promise to burn more calories than our intake. We hold on to this promise. We can't fault it. Science has spoken; it must be true. But we are quick to disregard the Eucharist, the diet that burn away our sins and makes us lose the weight of pride.
What is the Eucharist? It is the Body and Blood of Christ under the appearances of bread and wine. For us Catholics, it is the Perfect Body we aspire for. St. Augustine puts it this way, "be what you see, receive what you are"... the Body of Christ, through which we live the life of Christ.
