Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

We often talk about our own wounds; how the hurt and how painful it is to be wounded. But we don't seem to talk about the other side of the coin, the wounds we inflict on others. Just as we have wounded healers, we also have wounded "wounders". We hurt; we hurt others and we feel good.

Sometimes we do this deliberately, other time we aren't aware of the harm we do to others. Our wounds bleed! In pain and frustration we start to act out. We hurt people without knowing, and we leave them bleeding and hurting. There is truth In the saying "hurt people, hurt people".

But this isn't the sort of man or woman I was meant to be. I wasn't created to be a wounded "wounder"... I was created good and whole... I was created in the image and likeness of the God who is the Good. This God is alive. He takes pleasure in restoring us to who we truly are... good people.
