Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

There is something about our first love. We often can't explain it in words, but we can feel it and savour it. We treasure the place where we met our first love; and we relish the smell and other details of the place. Galilee was like that. And the disciples of Jesus loved Galilee.

It was the place they met their First Love - Jesus the Christ... the Man who loved them for who they are... the Man who affirmed them and called them friends instead of slaves. The Man who died for them even when they betrayed Him, denied Him, abandoned Him. The Man of Galilee.

When this Man died, the disciples were all shattered. They felt the guilt of rejecting their first love and losing His friendship. Thus, to heal them and restore their friendship, it was important that they return to where it all began - Galilee. And for us, Galilee is where we first encounter the Christ.
