Capsule for the Day

Fear is a powerful emotion. It often distorts our vision of life. It could make us to see life as a problem with no solution. Sometimes, it even magnifies the problem and parmralyzes our ability to do anything about it. We become lame, handicapped and end up being the person we are not.

In the gospel today, we find Mary of Magdala overcome with fear. She feared what would happen to her now that the Man who delivered her of demons had died and now His Body can't be found. This fear distorted her vision. She couldn't even recognise Christ even when He appeared to her.

Many of us are like Mary. We are afraid of what is ahead of us or what may happen; and we are overcome by fear. As a result, we don't even recognise Christ, our Help and Solution. So, Christ calls us by name, affirming who we truly are; and we recognise Him when we become our true self....
