Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

The tomb is empty. The cloths are rolled up and left on the ground. Rich symbols! The first attests to the resurrection of the Body. That the tomb is empty means it wasn't just the Soul that rose, but Body and Soul. It also affirms the Body as Good... It is God's creation and it is GOOD.

Although the sins He bore harmed the Body with their consequences, however, no sin has the power to render what God has made Good evil... the empty tomb speaks of the power of God to raise us from where sin and evil have left us to where God wants us to be... His sons and daughters.

The second symbol, the rolled up cloths means Christ is alive. He isn't dead. He will come back as He promised. Thus, He hasn't finished with us yet... though we feel we have reached the end, it is all over but He left us the cloths as a symbol of His return... He is coming to raise us from our past...
