Capsule for the Day
"It is finished", He said and breathed His last. Some theologians would suggest "it is accomplished" is a better expression. For it carries in itself the meaning of Christ accomplishing what the Father sent Him to do and be. Thus, it wasn't just about what He did but also who He WAS, and IS.
He accomplished all that prophets were on about. He fulfilled the Law and the Writings. He is the Moses who gave us the new commandment "love your God and your neighbour as yourself". He is the Emmanuel of Isaiah... and the lamb led to the slaughter house. He died for our sins.
Yes, He accomplished what Ezekiel prophesied "I will open your grave and resettle you on your land... and dry bones shall rise again". No word, no promise nor dot of the Law and the Prophets that He didn't fulfil and accomplish. It is accomplished reveals God as the Father who is trustworthy.
