Capsule for the Day
The clouds were gathering... the sky was turning dark... horror... there was silence... deep silence that spoke. But from the heart of the darkness and the horror Jesus cried "Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing". Noticed, He didn't cry Father condemn them for they are wicked.
Even in His agony, in His excruciating pain, in the midst of darkness and horror caused by our own failings, He chose to excuse us rather than condemn us. He chose to let go and to restore us rather than to destroy us. He kept to His promise, "I have come that you may have life not death".
St. Paul in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 defines loves as it keeps no records of wrong doing... It excuses all, hopes all... On the Cross we find love defined and personalised. He excuses our sins; He hopes for our repentance and our turn around for the Good. Can we learn from Him how to love?
