Capsule for the Day

What we think of God and how we perceive Him has a lot to do with how we live. It also has a lot to do with whether we believe in Him or not. To say the least, wrong perception of God is the efficient cause of atheism. For the god many atheists describe is a god that is indifferent to us.

And it is true, this god doesn't exist. We don't believe in him, and we don't worship him. This is one thing we have in common with atheists. But the problem is the transference of this perception of the atheistic god to the God we profess and worship. And this is an injustice to God and to us.

For our perception of God determines how we perceive and treat ourselves and each other. And it is against this background that St. John Paul II said "if we get our worship wrong, we get our politics, our economy and, even our biology wrong... For right worship comes from right perception of God.
