Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

Many a time, we focus more on the negatives of life. The wrong people have done us and the good they couldn't do. We consistently blame others for our situation. It is because he or she said "this", that is why I am "this". If he or she didn't do that, I would have been a better person.

We can't deny the consequences of the actions or inactions of others in our lives. But we can't also avoid taking responsibility for our choices. We choose to permit what others do or don't do to affect us. God didn't create us to be passive recipients of the actions and inactions of others.

He created us to be active choosers. We can choose to look at the scar and scratch it until it bleeds again or we can choose to turn the scar into our star. We have a choice here and a responsibility. We can choose to be bitter or better. Either way, the grace of God is always available to help us.
