Ingratitude hurts

Have you ever gone out of your way to help someone, to make life better for him or her? I guess we all have stories to tell. But it hurts deeply when the person you helped doesn't acknowledge or appreciate you. It is even worse when the person turns around to side with your "enemy" and they both turn against you. The feeling is unbearable. It hurts.

Deuteronomy 32: 18-21 tells the story of the ingratitude of humanity. It is a story of total forgetfulness of the God who fathers us. It is a story that reveals how God feels about ingratitude. v. 21 "They have stirred me to jealousy with what is no god... so I will stir them to jealousy with those who are no people; I will provoke them with a foolish nation".

But how long are we going to keep stirring them to jealousy? Are we going to waste our lives making them feel how we felt about their ungrateful attitude? We have to move on and find a way of bearing the pain. From the hurt and the pain arises a new person. So, don't waste them. Use them! Let them fuel the process that will transform you.
