It's ok to be Stupid in Prayer

Who wants to be stupid? Anyone? No hand was up. Who wants to be astute? All hands were up with big confident smiles. For no right thinking person would want to be stupid let alone pointless or senseless before a superior, a father figure or a boss. We most likely want to impress, to be seen as sensible and intelligent in order to gain affirmation.

If this is the case, why is it ok to be stupid in prayer? The answer is simple, prayer is a thing for "children". We all know how children can be pointless in their conversation. But we listen anyway. We then figure out what they are actually saying and help them. Prayer is a conversation we have with God. It is ok for us to be like children, to be "stupid".

We shouldn't try to impress or worry about "the right theological language" to use. What we should be worried about is the sincerity of our hearts. For it is ok for our prayer to begin from pointlessness and stupidity. The Father knows what we are actually saying. So, just pour it out. It may not make sense to you, but it makes a lot of sense to Our Father.
