Capsule for the Day

Meister Eckhart was a great mystic. But he writes in a language that we can all understand and relate to. "You are God’s seed", he said. "As the pear seed grows into the pear tree and the hazel seed becomes the hazel tree, so does God’s seed become God". This affirms ancient truth; "God became human that human could become God". Incarnation!

This is mind blowing. It reveals humanity has been intrinsically graced with the capacity to grow in God and to reflect God's  Goodness just as God in Christ reflects humanity's beauty and ugliness. As God's seed, we can call things into being. Christ even said "he who believes in Me can do the works that I do; and greater works..." (John 14:12).

Sometimes, our failures and weaknesses eclipse our appreciation of who we truly are. These realities stunt our growth. Thus, instead of us growing to become God in terms of reflecting His Goodness, we degenerate into reflecting our fears and all that is opposite of the Good. Notice Christ’s words "he who believes in Me...." To believe is key!
