Capsule for the Day
Genesis is the book of beginnings. It tells the story of the beginning of humanity and the whole creation. In chapter three, it tells the story of the fall of humanity. Imagine the life that existed before the fall. Imagine the Original Good; the freedom and happiness humanity enjoyed. They were in paradise. There was no shame, no fear. There was only love.
The question is why would humanity throw away the good, the truth, and the beauty for a lie, for evil and for shame? We all blame Adam and Eve. But are we any different? Imagine a spouse who goes out of his/her way to make life better for the family, and the other is cheating on him/her. Is the cheater any different from Adam and Eve?
At one point or another, we all fall. We choose a lie instead of the truth. We trade our freedom, happiness for a life of shame and fear. We hide because we are naked. And we hear the perennial question "who told you, you were naked". As soon as we do wrong, we suddenly realise we have stripped ourselves of the love that clothed us.
