Capsule for the Day
A catechist once asked her catechumens is there anything God can't do. The catechumens rack their brains and they all shouted "there is nothing God can't do". The catechist responded, "yes there is something God can't do". All were in shock. They were scandalized. Then she dropped the line "God can't not love you". He can't not forgive you.
This answers the question "does God really love me". It is a question many of us are struggling with. If He loves me, we reason, why does so and so happen to me? Why am I always going through one season of trial after another? Why me? It is difficult to believe we are loved when bad things happen to us. When we are battered and shattered.
"It doesn't make sense to say He loves me when He can't save me from my reality". But there is a rebuttal, "did He love His Son when He let Him die?" Wait a minute, didn't His Son die that we may live life to the full? I guess we miss the point when we ask the wrong question. The right question is, do we love God. Can I trust Him and let Him be God?
