Capsule for the Day
The psalmist asked the big question "who can climb the mountain of the Lord". "Only the man with pure heart..." he said. Purity begins from the heart. It is a rare beatitude. It is easier to fill our hearts with filthy stuff than to purify it, to empty it and set it aside for the Lord. Purity is about the Lord. It is about singularity of heart; choosing the Lord alone.
In a world of so many attractions and distractions, our hearts easily wander away from God. Thus, purity becomes all the more difficult. For how can we be pure in heart, when we are preoccupied with so many concerns? We can't even make time for God. Could this be the reason we fall over the cliff or we can't climb the mountain of the Lord?
What is this mountain? It is God's dwelling. It is where the banquet of the Lord is set. It is full of rich food and rich wine. Can we begin to appreciate why Jesus said "Happy are the pure in heart..." For the pure in heart are those who get to climb this mountain. They are those who get to enjoy the company of God and His riches. They are indeed happy.
