Jehoshaphat's Prayer

Jehoshaphat is truly a leader. He doesn't give up. He doesn't let his pride consume him. He knows how to humble himself before the Lord and before his subjects. He is not ashamed to admit his powerlessness and to cry out to God in his distress and fear. For he is a man who prays. He is a man who hopes God will hear him and save his people.

In 2 Chronicles 20: 5-12 we find details of where he stood to pray; how he prayed and what he prayed about. In v. 12 he cried out "O Our God, will You not execute judgement upon them (his enemies)? For we are powerless against this great multitude that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You." He trusted in God.

V. 12 brings out the childlike attitude of Jehoshaphat. He was very sincere in his prayer to the Father: "we don't know what to do, but our eyes are on you". Sometimes, that is all we have to do. To say it as it is, and to fix our eyes on the Lord, not on the situation. For those who place their trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion... that stands firm forever.
