Capsule for the Day
Mountain is a common Biblical word. Literarily, it demands climbing. It means to leave the plains and climb the heights. We don't carry baggage to climb mountain. We drop our baggage at the foot of the mountain and carry what is extremely necessary. So, there is choice and detachment.
Now, let's look at the symbolic meaning. To leave the plains is to leave our comfort zone. It means to embark on a journey that demands we drop our baggage of sin and all the negative experiences that hurt and cause us pain. Sin is heavy. Sin weighs us down. Sin hinders our growth.
But Grace, God's Presence isn't heavy. In Grace, we free ourselves of unwanted baggage. With Grace, we can climb to the top of the mountain. And with Grace, we begin to see the world from God's perspective. Thus, Grace helps us to become more. More like Christ on Mount Tabor (Mark 9:2-8).
