Capsule for the Day
Jeremiah 14:9 tells us something of God. "He is in our midst". Notice the verb "is". It means He is ever present. There is no beginning nor end. God is! He is always in our midst. This should be very comforting knowing we are never alone. And if He is in our midst, who can be against us?
The passage also tells us something about us. "We are called by His Name". There is power and authority in the name of a president of a country. Imagine the power and authority that goes with the Name of God, the King of kings. Do we realise who it is that has called us to be....?
Finally, the passage tells us something about our relationship with God. "Do not desert us, O Lord". We need God. Our whole life comes from Him and our whole life is tailored towards Him. We need God to find God. If He "deserts us" then we stop living by the power and authority of His Name.
