Capsule for the Day
2017 has come and gone. But the memories of the year may linger. For some, these memories are great and bring us joy; for others, they are painful and we want to forget them. While we can choose which memory to hold on to, we have no power over the flashbacks of memories that hurt.
The question is what would we do with the memory flashbacks in the New Year. A caveat: ignoring, denying or suppressing these memories isn't healthy. A healthy approach is to name the memories and the emotions they arouse. Claim the memories as part of our story and work with them.
Working with our memories can be painful. But let's consider the pain as a path to learning, healing and breakthrough. Besides, we need these memories to live wisely in 2018. Secondly, we need to bring all our memories to the Memory - the Christ who will use them to bless us in 2018.
