Capsule for the Day
We live in a society where there seems to be an explanation for virtually everything. For many a people, there is no mystery. What we called mystery many years ago has been explained away today by science. But we miss the point here. Mystery isn't just about what is unexplainable.
Mystery is in fact what is known and can be explained. It is what is close to us and with us. And since it is so close to us we wonder at the profound depth of what it contains and reveals. For instance, the incarnation is mystery because God becomes man; eternity becomes time.
Unfortunately, we are losing the sense of mystery, we are falling into self-worship. As a result, we have become very inhuman. John the Baptist in Mark 1:1-8 calls us to repent of our self-worship and turn to the mystery, to the worship of the One God. For right worship begets right living.
