Capsule for the Day
It was all Pilate's fault. He placed the burden on Christ. No! It was the people's fault, they made the cross. Oh no! It was Christ fault, if He didn't stand out and oppose the Scribes and the Pharisees, there wouldn't have been any cross. Why couldn't He just follow the convention?
So, it isn't just about carrying the cross, it is also about, why the cross? Is the cross an aftermath of what one has done or a footpath to where one ought to be? Look at Christ! Look at the cross! Was He guilty? Not at all! So why the cross? Salvation! He took upon Himself what was ours...
Cross, yoke of burden, we place it on others. We see them carry it. We justify the cross, it is their fault, we say. Are we any different from Pilate? Are we any different from the Scribes and the Pharisees? Or when we make life difficult and miserable, for others aren't we placing a cross on them?
