This is My Body Given Up for You: Part 2
It all began in baptism. We were baptised into His death that we may rise with Him. We can't rise without Him. Thus, if we must rise, we have to follow Him, for He is the Way to the Father. The Way is the Cross. It crosses us differently. It is excruciating and it isn't a beautiful sight to behold. But when He calls, He bids us come, carry our cross with Him.
It is foolish no doubt to speak of the Cross in a time when there is so much pain, anger and bitterness. We should be speaking of punishment. We should call for the life sentence or even death of all perpetrators, all who covered-up and enabled the crimes and the scandals to escalate. They must pay for their crimes. The Church must be reformed.
While it is ok for us to be angry and demand "justice", I think the wisdom remains the Cross. "This is My Body Given Up for You" remains the Way. In saying this, I am not in any way downplaying the gravity of the crimes, but I seek to offer Christ's path to wholesome healing. It is doing what He did on the Cross "He asked the Father to forgive them."
