Hungry and Tired
It is bad enough being hungry. Imagine being hungry and tired. I guess we lose it at this point. We tend to be very vulnerable when we are weary. We grow impatient and we can easily lash out at others or even get angry with ourselves. Most times, we don't even realise our behaviours. But if we are reflective, we may come to terms with them.
Life is full of many of such instances. There is no doubt some of us have done or said things in those times that we deeply regret. While it is healthy to feel remorse for one's actions, it is very unhealthy to live with the regret. Living with a regret is like living with a cancer. We don't get better. We get worse, except with the intervention of specialists.
Christ is the specialist when it comes to matters of regret and guilt. He doesn't wait for us to look for Him. He invites us first. "Come to me", He says, "all who labour and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest". He knows how exhausted we are dealing with the regret. He wants to free us of it. So, He asks us to accept His invitation: come and rest with Me.
